What if I get stung?
When a bee stings, it injects a certain amount of venom through the sting. Unlike many other insects, bees leave the stinger behind and continue pumping out venom until the venom sac is empty. Therefore, if you are stung, it is important to remove the stinger as soon as possible, and you can do this, for example, by scraping the stinger from the skin with a hard tip. bank card edge. For most people, the effects of a sting are nothing more than minor swelling, irritation and pain. There are a few exceptions if there are bites in the mouth or throat, or if you have allergies. People who have had severe allergic reactions to insect stings in the past are likely to have a similar reaction or worse if they are stung again.
It is very important that you let us know before visiting the apiary, let us know if you have allergies known to bee or other insect stings. More susceptible individuals can go into anaphylactic shock after a bee sting with serious and potentially fatal consequences.
